Remember how promising musician DL Junior, now Anokye Supremo, was called down for sounding like Highlife music legend, Daddy Lumba – all because his critics felt he ‘forces’ his larynx to sound like the ‘Tokromu’ vocalist?
Well, such similarities in art and acts persist, and this time, finds its space in the life of promising Afro-Dancehall musician, Agya Ananse, real name Richard Akuffo.
With a soothing baritone voice similar to that of multiple-award winning reggae/dancehall artist, Samini, Agya Ananse – the blazing spider as he tags himself, advocates for the use of weed in a subtle but enthralling style.
One cannot state whether he forces his vocal cord to sound like Samini or not, but the Akuapim Akropong native, proves through his new track ‘Kyikyire’ featuring Kliff Wonder, that given attention and support, he can become a force to reckon with in Ghana’s music industry.
Agya Ananse, an old student of Suhum Secondary Technical, is signed on Heroland Entertainment. Though a mechanic by profession, Agya Ananse considers music a womb-to-tomb passion and so wants “to take Ghanaian music to the world” he says confidently.
Promising Agya Ananse takes strong inspiration from Lutan Fayah.
His new song, produced by the esteemed PossiGee, is actually your usual favourite BANGER! We hope his management pull all strings to make this ‘moving’ song available to the masses. DOWNLOAD/ENJOY ‘Kyikyire’ by Agya Ananse below:
