Ghanaian-British star Peter Mensah best known for his role in blockbuster Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and Spartacus: Vengeance, is currently in Ghana – Presspeep.com gathers.


Several reports have it that the Hollywood star has been in the country for weeks now to mourn and undertake other funeral rites of his late father Mr. Osei Mensah – who died Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in Kumasi. He’s’ currently based in Kumasi as he sojourns in Ghana to finish his traditional assignment.

As a huge national export from Ghana to the world, one would have thought he will grant interviews to the media – to share his Hollywood experiences and perhaps, offer some ideas on how we can better the lots of our movie industry to the world.

Indeed, a good number of Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana, ATWAG, have expressed concerns on why Mr. Mensah has not been given media attention – only for ATWAG member and Founding Editor of NYDJLive.com, Ebenezer Nana Yaw Donkoh, aka NYDJ to disclose how he pursued the Hollywood actor for an interview but all efforts proved otiose.

“He was in Ghana in February for his dad’s funeral. I tried everything to get an interview with him but his family won’t even allow. I did my best to the extent of going to the venue for a dinner after the funeral but still. Funny enough close family relatives didn’t even know he’s a big star” NYDJ disclosed.

NYDJ further revealed how another Arts Writer/Broadcaster also wanted to interview Mr. Mensah but the latter’s family won’t allow. “I remember Hughes [TV3/3FM] follow up and asked if I could get a contact for him but his family won’t allow” NYDJ added.

We at Presspeep.com are stumped at how Peter Mensah shuns media attention each time he comes to Ghana – his motherland.

Early Life

Mensah was born at Chiraa, Ghana, and comes from an academic family. He was born to parents from the Brong Ahafo Region, and moved to Hertfordshire, England, with his father, Peter Osei Mensah an engineer, his mother, a writer, and two younger sisters at a young age. Mensah began practicing martial arts at the age of six.

Career

Mensah’s film credits include Avatar, 300, Hidalgo, Tears of the Sun, Jason X, Harvard Man, Bless the Child and The Incredible Hulk. He also starred in the short film The Seed, produced and directed by Linkin Park’s DJ Joe Hahn.

He has made television appearances in Star Trek: Enterprise, Tracker, Witchblade, Blue Murder, Relic Hunter, Earth: Final Conflict, Highlander: The Raven, and La Femme Nikita. He was a member of the repertory cast of the A&E Network series A Nero Wolfe Mystery and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

He did the voice and likeness of Sgt. Zach Hammond in EA’s video game Dead Space.

Mensah played the character Oenomaus in Spartacus and was on the Spartacus Panel at Comic Con 2009 and 2011. He had a recurring role in the fifth season of True Blood.

He is the voice of Predaking, the dragon-like leader of the Predacons in Transformers: Prime.He has beyond shadow of doubt taken the flag of Ghana to global exposure,hence must be with all stance celebrated.
