Arts/Entertainment Writer Osarfo Anthony Volunteers As Ambassador To Promote ‘Wear Ghana’ Initiative By National Commission On Culture NCC

The National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train have declared and set apart the month of March which is our independence month as “Wear Ghana Month”.

This initiative is to promote Ghana’s clothe culture and heritage by encouraging Ghanaians to wear made in Ghana’ clothes and other fashion accessories that are produced locally for both corporate and social functions.

Another objective of this programme is to promote local textile industry and reward creativity in Ghana’s fashion industry with the aim of bringing our Ghanaian cultural heritage to light.

Osarfo Anthony, a well-known Arts and Entertainment Writer and Critic in Ghana’s entertainment media circles, approached the Director of Creative Arts – Programmes & Projects, National Commission on Culture, Mr. Socrate Safo, and volunteered as an Ambassador to promote such a pukka national initiative; and was approved to endorse the project.

Osarfo has since, been using his official Facebook wall to promote the project;

Other revered personalities who have duly endorsed and promoting the Wear Ghana project are; President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, members of Parliament, ministers, musicians, actors, broadcasters, comedians, models and beauty pageants, actors, among others.

As part of the programme, the National Commission on Culture and Street Fashion Train have lined up activities to be carried out during the month of March. On the 9th of March (Launching of Wear Ghana MONTH) at National Theatre, 14TH March (Seminar)at National Theatre , 23rd-24thof March (fashion show and exhibition) and on 25th March (Ghana Fashion Industry Honours/awards) at LA-PALM Royal Beach hotel, ,2018.

The theme for this year’s edition of the Wear Ghana Month is captured as “Wear Ghana to promote the fashion industry in Ghana “.
