Convicts Test Positive for Coronavirus in Police Cell

Three convicts in a police station at Walewale test positive for COVID-19. These inmates had their samples taken by health officials for testing on 15 January, 2021. They were part of ten inmates who had their samples also taken.

Speaking to Joy FM, the West Mamprsui Municipal Director of Health Services, Mumuni Rashid the samples were sent to Navrongo Research to be tested.

“We sent 11 inmates’ samples to the Navrongo Research to be tested for Covid-19. The number of convict cases kept increasing and we had to transfer some. The results came and 3 out of the 11 tested positive.”

He also said the infected persons are currently receiving treatment while contact tracing and testing are also being done for other convicts and officers in Walewale.
