President Akufo-Addo has nominated Dr. Ibrahim Mahama for the ministerial position as head of Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry. The position, formerly held by Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi was snatched from her in the recent elections. Dr. Ibrahim Mahama is set to fill her parliamentary seat.
Names such as Mark Mante and Obuor were being muttered throughout the Ghana Showbiz fraternity as competent persons for the job. The GIJ alumnus, who holds a Masters in Journalism from the University of Wales, UK and served as a Minister of Business Development under Akufo-Addo’s first tenure of office however was deemed fit for the position.
Prior to his approval for the role, he is subject to vetting before parliament. Nobody has been nominated to play of his deputy yet.
