Despite several laudations from notable local and foreign organizations at Ghanaians for a fair and peaceful elections, the leader of Progressive People’s Party, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom have a contrary stance.

Speaking with Kafui Dey and Nana Aba Anamoah on GHOne TV, Dr. Nduom expressed concerns and reasons why he cannot term the just ended elections fair.

”When we were complaining as to why the electoral commission is avoiding the National Identification database and asking John Mahama to give the NIA money to complete the registrations of Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians, many people didn’t pay us any heed and so we went into this election with faulty voters database, that’s a part of the problem we have experienced.”

He also stressed on vote buying by the NDC – claiming that John Dramani Mahama used his [Dr. Nduom] money to embark on political campaign since he pays more tax than the outgoing president. He also charged the government for using state funds for vote buying and described that as unfair.

”But also, if you see the massive vote buying and also the use of our state funds by John Dramani Mahama and NDC all over the country, you can’t tell me that’s fair, it can’t be fair.” I pay more tax than John Dramani Mahama and it’s my money he has used to fight his campaign so there’s no fairness in that.”

Dr. Nduom disclosed an experience he witnessed at Elmina on the day of election. ”On the day of election, if you walking the streets of Elmina with me, you will see youths gathered in several different corners who haven’t voted and you ask them, they respond:

“We are waiting for you. What are they waiting for me for, they are looking for money before they go and vote because they have been conditioned to get something before casting their votes and this is what the NDC and other people are prepping them to understand.”
