The Electoral Commission has filed legal objections as per orders of the Supreme Court to John Dramani Mahama’s petition.
The EC filed 22 legal objections yesterday, Friday, January 22, 2021.
The former president John Mahama has filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the results of the elections that took place last December. The EC declared his opponent, President Akufo-Addo as the winner of the elections.
As at the time the EC was filing its legal objections, the 2nd respondent, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is yet to file his witness statements and exhibits as ordered by the court.
After having his motion for interrogatories dismissed by the seven-member panel in charge of handling this petition case, former president John Mahama through his lawyers filed for a review of the motion.
According to the petitioner, starting the hearing of the petition before a review of his motion will constitute a “grave miscarriage of justice”.
