Gifted broadcaster and Community rights torchbearer, Johnnie Hughes has been named Radio Development Show Host of year 2016/2017.
The honour was bestowed upon him at Big Event’s highly patronised awards ceremony at the Accra International Conference Center on October 28.
The result-oriented Community Connect Show host showed up strongly against Jon Germain (Starr fm), Nana Yaa Konadu (Peace fm), Oheneba Ntim Barimah (Oman fm), and Mama Efe (Nhyira fm) to emerge winner of the keenly contested category.
This latest feat heavily endorses him as the most popular among his peers, since the award is largely based on public votes. Johnnie, who is loved and respected for his sterling exploits both on 3fm 92.7 and TV3 New Day says:
“This award is a strong reminder that my team and I must do better than we did to win this; an indication that more work lies ahead.”
Asked how he felt while he waited to know his fate in the auditorium, he smiled broadly and said:
“I didn’t how the night was to progress, but the multiple words of encouragement from listeners and screen shots of how they had voted, didn’t give me a chance to worry, but the butterflies remained in my tummy and gave me mixed feelings.”
‘Community Connect’ is fast rising to become the new standard in addressing concerns of communities across Ghana after only one and half years of accomplishing dreams and touching lives through the power of radio.
With an impressive track-record and razor-sharp-inquisitorial approach to that brings lasting help to long-standing and growing problems, discerning listeners wouldn’t go shopping elsewhere.
Community connect is live and interactive on 3fm 92.7 on Fridays from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm and is hosted by the smooth voiced and multiple awardee, Johnnie Hughes.
