Obaapa Development Foundation, founded by ace broadcaster, Philanthropist, and Queenmother, Nana Adwoa Awindor (Obaapa Nana Awindor) has received donations from Ghana Wesley United Methodist Church (GWUMC) in USA for the foundation’s ‘Teenage Mothers Back To School Project.’

Delivering her vote of thanks for the gesture, Obaapa Nana Awindor expressed;

“We would like to make special mention of Rev Angel Abakah who pastors The Ghana Wesley United Methodist Church (GWUMC) – Brooklyn, for his great leadership and kindness towards humanity especially the vulnerable. And to Madam Cynthia Charway on behalf of the harvest committee, we say a big thank you for coordinating this wonderful gesture from your Church!”

The items received among others were; three U-Haul packs of various products including Baby Diapers, Wipes, Baby Food, Vitamins, Vanity sets (Bath gel/oil/lotion) and Sanitary Pads.

In a brief account of how the donations are utilized, Obaapa Nana Awindor intimated that

“So far, we have presented a good number of the items to 15 out of the 60 Teenage Mothers (Who attended the Menstrual Hygiene Management Advocacy Day, recently at Ejisu. At the same event, we also distributed PROPA Sanitary Pads and Pretty Lady Sanitary Pads and MY LOVE Baby Products (Courtesy Sister Pinamang in London).”

She also hinted that the foundation will make donations to three adopted Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) we’ve Adopted as NewbornCare Champions. They are:
1. Dormaa Presby Hospital
2. Takyiman Holy Family Hospital and
3. Ridge Hospital in Accra.

This is in support of the Champions’ Campaign for Support towards Newborns (launched in Dormaa Ahenkro Presby Hospital during Dormaa Easter Homecoming, 2017).

Like Oliver Twist, Obaapa Nana Awindor called for more support.

We would use this opportunity to extend our call for support to other churches, corporate organizations, development partners, Ghanaian associations abroad, etc to enable us extend our support to the many who need it most.”
