Celebrity lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, has cautioned media houses, especially, one mynewsgh.com, to desist from publishing stories that seeks to pitch him against judges.
A possibly unhappy lawyer Ampaw, posted (unedited) on his official Facebook handle, “The media must stop the sensational stories about lawyer Maurice AMPAW. If u cross the red line l will sue.”
Asked why the post, he explained that Ghanaweb has picked a story by one mynewsgh.com with the headline: “Maurice Ampaw to name judges involved in sex scandals.” The story reads in part, a claim by Lawyer Ampaw, that, he has scandalous se.x videos of some judges.
“A have a list of judges and magistrates, lawyers, Members of Parliament, Ministers and so on involved in sex scandals. I am only waiting for the right time to drop the list. You see the victims themselves gave me the evidence after they approached me to narrate their ordeal”, he disclosed on Accra-based Okay FM.
Reacting to the publication, highly incensed lawyer Ampaw, shot down the report and said, “This is irresponsible journalism. I admit editors have every right to exercise editorial discretion, but that should be done with tact.
“Judges are humans but they wield so much power and authority and should not be played with with sensational things in the media. This is just a plot of propaganda to make me lose appreciation of seriousness before judges! It is ill-informed.”
He added: “They know I have several sensitive and public interest cases in court, so they deliberately focused on stuffs that will make me lose respect before judges. We don’t do propaganda will judges and the law! No responsible media house will do this.”
Ending, he said, “I will start suing such media houses. It’s not an empty threat. I want that mynewsgh.com and others who picked the story to pull it down, else I will take legal action. I won’t allow anyone to soil my hard earned reputation.”
