Shatta Wale has explained the concept behind the music video for his recent hit single ‘Gringo’.
According to Shatta, Gringo means ‘foreigner’ or ‘stranger’ and the video depicts someone seen as a foreigner who comes into a town and takes it over, which he sees as a representation of how he took over the Ghanaian music industry.
“Gringo is a Mexican term meaning foreigner. People saw Shatta Wale as a foreigner. This is a stranger who came to conquer the music industry. I wanted to break barriers for everyone to know who Shatta Wale is,” he said.
Touching on why the lyrics of the song is too short – something which has been criticized by some art buffs, EL Shatta, explained that the song is just an introduction to his upcoming ‘The Reign’ album which is going to blow the minds of Ghanaians.
